The two films, Gun Crazy and Bonnie and Clyde, revolve around the concept of violence. The main themes addressed by these films are violence and crime in general. Each film indicates some elements of order and elements of chaos. This explains why classical narratives and Hollywood genres address the issue of chaos and order as they prevail in society. Comparing the two, it's clear that Bonnie and Clyde draws heavily from Gun Crazy in many ways. In both films there are mass shootings, which is an indication of the violence that exists in their respective societies. The characters get involved in criminal activities with different motivations. There are various factors that push the couples in both films to commit crimes in the society. This study seeks to demonstrate that classical narratives and Hollywood genres are structured along the lines of conflict between order and chaos through their themes inherent in their social and ideological contexts. Gun Crazy portrays the idea of chaos in distinct ways. As a young man, at the age of 14, Bart Tare robs a hardware store and makes off with a gun. The problem of shop robbery represents the existence of chaos in society since stealing is not a virtue but a vice that exists in the world. A subsequent marriage between Bart and Laurie triggers the genesis of the existence of the chaos depicted in the film (Lewis, 1950). After the wedding, the couple runs out of money and, as such, Anne gives Bart a difficult choice. Either he joins her in a career of crime or she abandons him. Both of these characters are the epitome of chaos. In Bonnie and Clyde, chaos begins to ensue when the two stars meet in an episode where Clyde is attempting to steal Bonnie's mother's car. Bonnie ...... middle of paper ...... towards eliminating chaos in society and establishing order. Ultimately, it is clear that classical narratives and Hollywood genres are structured along the lines of the conflict between order and chaos, law breakers cause chaos according to genres, while the police and FBI in each case try to implement order arresting people who cause chaos. Rebel civilians also commit crimes to create chaos. The authority represented by the police and the FBI implements the order by following the offenders to ensure that they are convicted appropriately.
