Topic > The Effects Child Overprotection - 759

Most people believe that controlling their children's every move is best for them in the end, but in reality it causes more harm than good. Overprotecting your child can lead to short-term problems, such as bullying, to long-term problems, such as depression. Additionally, when you overprotect your child, you can weaken your relationship in the future. Your child may feel like they can't come to you about things because you may judge them or doubt their abilities regarding things. Another big problem that most children seem to face with overprotection is a decrease in their confidence. They will always try to do what they can to meet your standards. When they think they don't meet the standards of where you want them to be, they will start to doubt themselves and feel like nothing they do is ever good enough. These results are very true for me; watching my peers grow up around me and seeing how different parenting skills can be is very alarming. Many parents think that raising their children a certain way is best for them. But every child is different, no matter how you raise them, and sooner or later they will start to want to make their own decisions. Some parents believe that it is best not to expose their children to certain things such as sex, drugs and alcohol because it would be beneficial for them to stay away from these things. But what they don't know is that when their children find out from friends or peers, the outcome will be worse than if the parents let them know in advance. it's middle ground in how they raise their children. Can you not be too overprotective and at the same time not so forgiving? N…middle of the paper…in the future they will think about how their parents will feel about the situation, instead of what they really want to do. Every child wants nothing more than to be accepted by their parents and feel like they can turn to them for comfort. In Asian culture their parenting skills are known to be the strictest of all. Asian parents tend to be more overprotective because they set high standards that they want their children to meet. Many Asian parents just want their children to succeed in life, but at the same time all the pressure they put on their children will make them resent them. Although many Asians seem to focus on how their children are doing academically, they tend to come across as cold and unloving, and this is what affects their children the most. Another thing that overprotection can lead to is your child being bullied while attending school.
