The kitchen is congested with cumin, pepper and bitter leaves. If you start giggling, singing, or communicating in any way, you will suffocate because spice particles now make up the majority of the air. This is my stay three times a week, when my mother doesn't go to work the night before. This is how my family works. My family pushed me to live my life immersed in culture. From helping my mother cook our Jollof rice dinner to participating in fundraisers until dawn to build primary schools in the motherland. I am grateful to my family, thanks to them I cultivated my early interest in culture, and now I will keep this interest with me even after my secondary school years. Although I can say that I have gained a substantial element from my family, they have limited me in my life for too long. Often, due to pre-formed notions or ideals, my parents did not allow me to explore a passion of mine. Furthermore, I could sometimes only poorly pursue an interest due to my obligation to supervise my siblings or accompany them in their activities. My parents are expecting too...
