When someone reads Divergent they are drawn into a world of morality, family, loss, love, war, but above all a journey of self-discovery. Our entire class was enthralled by the exhilarating journey Tris went through and eagerly awaited the opportunity to see Divergent come to life on the big screen. Our expectations for this film were quite high, but unfortunately they were thrown into the abyss, just like Al. The first problem with the film adaptation was the setting. At first it was excellent; the city was accurate and the Abnegation sector was exactly how I imagined it. All my happiness was lost, however, when we entered the Dauntless headquarters. Veronica Roth so eloquently described the rushing flow of the chasm and the harsh sound of the water hitting the walls of the walls; Where was this in the movie? There was an abyss yes, but I didn't hear that extraordinary sound that Veronica wrote about. For some this is a minor detail. Who really cares about the setting? It's not like it changes the movie. It does, however, if the setting is changed ...
