Habitat for Humanity International Inc. is a 501(c)3 Christian nonprofit organization headquartered in Americus, Georgia, that builds and repairs homes around the world for low-income families. Millard and Linda Fuller founded the organization in 1976 and were inspired to develop the organization after first visiting Koinonia Farm in 1965 for a service business. Millard and Clarence Jordan, a farmer from Koinonia, created the idea of “housing partnerships” in which volunteers help low-income people build suitable housing. Today, Habitat has built and repaired more than 800,000 homes (“The Habitat Story”). Therefore, in this article we will discuss the mission of Habitat for Humanity and its strategies for developing nations versus developed nations. Additionally, there will be an examination of the effectiveness, composition and efficiency of the working committees of Habitat's affiliate organizations, the impact the organization is having on their "partner" families and their communities, the issues facing the organization is addressing and whether it is fully carrying out its mission to the best of its capabilities. Finally, there will be an examination of the organisation's Strategic Plan for 2014-2018 and whether new approaches will increase its capacity, impact and effectiveness. Habitat's mission is "to believe that every man, woman and child should have a life of dignity, a safe and affordable place to live..." Therefore, the organization builds and repairs homes around the world through its large volunteer base , donated materials and support through donations. It has been highly successful and sustainable due to its large volunteer base and connection to local communities with its many affiliated organizations “...... middle of paper ..... .g and other resources. Additionally, the organization needs to involve more community members on the boards of its affiliates if it wants to have an effective impact in the community and understand the personal challenges they are trying to address with their services will implement the plans they have set out in their “Strategic Plan for 2014-2018” to include their partnership with NGOs in developing countries and the use of MFH loans, as well as having a pre-established marketing plan and to increase their marketing operations. Thus, the organization would increase funding and tangible resources for its operations, allowing it to offer higher-quality services to more families in need around the world. All in all, this sustainable organization has many problems that can be adequately addressed and resolved through better management, marketing and financial strategies.
