Appearance of Jesus to Thomas in 20:24-29After the resurrection of Jesus, the disciples went through so much confusion, difficulty and doubt that they believed that Jesus had risen from the dead. Unlike other gospels, John presents us with a more dignified description of Jesus' appearance to one of the disciples (Thomas). The seeing and believing incident happened to demonstrate the difference between hearing and believing and seeing and believing. It's really amazing how Jesus appeared to all the disciples in Thomas' absence and then later the disciples shared the news that they saw Jesus to Thomas but he didn't believe it because he wanted to prove it by seeing everything himself. Later Jesus appears at Thomas' house and so the question arises: Did Jesus really want to prove himself to Thomas in front of the other disciples or did he simply want to spend a moment of time together with all his disciples before going to heaven? As called by many , Doubting Thomas's skepticism of not believing his fellow disciples that Jesus was somehow resurrected becomes a funnel to the Christian faith when we look at our daily lives today. It was not a sin for him not to believe because it shows that he was not easily convinced, which I would attribute to the fact that there are false prophets who claim to proclaim the word of God even when they are antichrist. What I'm trying to say is that Thomas was blessed because he believed based on the Testimony. When we evidently look back at how Jesus entered the locked house, it proves his own words in the book of John 10:7,9 where he claims to be the door. “Jesus does not suggest that Thomas should stop doubting, rather he identifies Thomas' state as unbelief.
