The primary objective of any individual company's financial communications is to survive. Financial communications would not be viable unless there is one company left to start with; to do this a company must create profit. In addition to profit, there are many other objectives of financial communication; The long-term goal of securing wealth is coupled with meeting financial requirements, such as paying suppliers, clearing debts, and paying adequate dividends to shareholders. As well as managing and maintaining good financial management to generate trust within the company. McCarty's turnover in the 2013/14 annual report is shown as £17,680,000,000 (McCarty's, 2014). The company demonstrates competent knowledge of the market in order to capture such a high turnover, although the figure is actually lower than in the 2012/13 annual report where turnover was £18,166,000,000. The decline in revenue represents a loss of market share for McCarty's, as well as a decline in gross profit compared to 2013/14. Financial communications involves financial reporting, McCarty's engages in financial reporting which involves communication, different individuals and companies equally have an interest in how McCarty's performs as a company, these individuals or companies can be called stakeholders. Stakeholders can learn about the performance of a company, in this case McCarty's, by examining the financial statements published annually. Stakeholders can use the income statement to know the company's profitability, the balance sheet communicates the company's ability to obtain and invest its resources.
