Topic > Concrete Technology in Concrete - 1205

The development of new technologies in materials science is progressing rapidly. Over the last three decades, a lot of research has been conducted around the world to improve the performance of concrete in terms of strength and durability. As a result, concrete no longer remained a building material, but rather became a custom-designed material with several new components to meet the specific needs of the construction industry. The increasing use of concrete in particular architectural configurations and closely spaced reinforcing bars have made it very important to produce concrete that provides adequate filling capacity, improved structural performance and adequate durability. Concrete technology has been subjected to macro- and micro-level studies for the improvement of concrete properties (strength and durability) from the early 1980s onwards. In Japan, in the early 1980s, premature deterioration of concrete structures was detected in almost every part of the country. The primary cause of deterioration was found to be inadequate compaction. To solve this technical problem, the concept of self-compacting concrete was introduced. SCC is a type of concrete that flows on its own without segregation, does not require vibrations for complete compaction and is environmentally friendly due to the absence of noise. Self-compacting concrete provides strength in construction and is insensitive to processing. BASIC PRINCIPLE BEHIND SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE (SCC) SCC is that which is compacted due to its own weight and is deaerated (no trapped air) almost completely as it flows into the work form. In densely reinforced structural elements, it completely fills all voids and maintains the horizontality of the concrete surface after placing...... half of the paper... to increase durability compared with ordinary concrete.5. The SCC shows small variations in site properties.6. SCC is more suitable for concrete-filled tube technology (CFT) construction for high-rise buildings.7. SCC ensures better quality of in-situ pile foundations.8. SCC reduces the cost of resource consumption and costs. Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is particularly suitable in highly reinforced concrete elements such as bridge decks or abutments, tunnel linings or pipe segments, where it is difficult to vibrate the concrete, or even for normal engineering structures. The improvement in construction practices and performance, combined with the health and safety benefits, makes SCC a very attractive solution for both civil engineering and precast concrete construction. Based on these facts it can be concluded that SCC will have a bright future.
