This course was the first one I took as an incoming freshman, as anyone could imagine that I was scared and nervous at the same time. Also because it is a writing course; I was hesitant if I wanted to continue the course because writing is very challenging for me as an immigrant. Returning from summer vacation, I found it extremely difficult to continue where I left off in my high school writing skills. The fear of writing that my old high school teacher instilled in me didn't help my writing anxiety either. On the contrary, I found that the professor and the course were not at all as intimidating as I thought, the professor took time out of his busy schedule to help his students further improve their writing, and the writing topics were very thought-provoking and thought-provoking. Composition 1 helped me learn more about myself and my writing skills, which allowed me to further self-evaluate, find where I needed improvement, and find motivation to change. As we approached the due date for the first essay assignment, the professor asked to share our introductory paragraph aloud to the class. Since I barely knew any of my peers, I initially found the participation aspect terrifying. However, after becoming familiar with my surroundings and my peers, I felt comfortable sharing what I thought and receiving positive feedback. Such exposures allowed me to understand proper writing techniques thus giving me the ability to get a better grade on any writing assignment. The group workshops were useful, along with the evaluation carried out between two other students, and all this helped me understand my mistakes and improve these points later in my revision process. The transition between high school and college assignments led to a dis...... half of the assignment ......dge said, “the more time you spend reviewing, the better grade you will get “, I see the correlation now and I firmly believe it now. The most important obstacle to overcome in the course was mainly myself and my old writing habits. Adapting to the course is a goal that you need to overcome after rushing, the longer it takes to adapt, the worse your grade will be. A critical aspect of adaptation is the ability to modify writing requirements based on the class you are in. Identifying the appropriate text to use in each class would help you adapt to the course more quickly. In my history class, writing consists mostly of facts piled on top of facts without a set of techniques, while writing class involves much more critical thinking. I really enjoyed this course because I discovered that I can express my personal opinions while keeping the basics of my articles.
