Mexico is a country rich in history, tradition and culture; It is made up of 31 states and one federal district. It is the third largest country in Latin America and has the largest population with over 100 million people; making it home to more Spanish speakers than any other nation in the world. Many of Mexico's rural areas are still inhabited by natives whose lifestyles mirror those of their ancestors. Additionally, many pre-Columbian ruins still exist throughout Mexico, including the ancient city of Teotihuacán and the Mayan pyramids of Chichen, Itz, and Tulum. This article will describe the basic life that an average person lives in Mexico. Additionally there will be in-depth details on five main aspects that shape and describe Mexico. The first major theme is Tradition, culture and identity where celebrations, food, traditions and religion are an everyday thing. Then there are sports and recreational activities with baseball, Charreria, bullfighting and football. Another important role for Mexico is education. Through education there are many ups and downs throughout the education system. Their overall pass rate and grades are surprisingly high, but the bumps and bruises come when funding is mentioned. Public safety is the Mexican government's primary concern. Law and crime cause serious disorder and is very common in Mexico. The war on drugs is also a major factor affecting Native health, which brings me to my final topic. Sickness and health is one of the BIGGEST concerns for Mexico. The main reason is their high disease rate. With a high rate of disease, many people die every day from things that could be prevented. When most people think of Mexico, they imagine a normal Christian country but, little did they know, ... ....inhabitants per day. There is also an incredible amount of assaults that happen in one day. 252 people per 100,000 inhabitants are attacked per day. (Reporter, Daily Mail. “Mexican drug cartel hitman tells how he committed 800 murders before he stopped keeping track.” Mail Online. Associated Newspapers, 11 February 2014. Web. 19 March 2014.). This is the main crime that happens in Mexico and will continue to be. As you can see, Mexico is a big confusing mass of culture and problems. Although many want to solve Mexico's problems, the funds are not there and the conflicts continue. Many traditions and cultures occur in everyday life and are very symbolic to people in Mexico. (“Mexico and Central America.” The Ford Foundation. Np, nd Web. March 19, 2014). Crime and war are at all-time highs, but Mexico continues to push to reach the top in all things to become the best country it can be.
