Some girls when they are little want to be a princess or have other fantastic dreams that will probably never come true; however, ever since I was little I knew I was different. I had a burning passion for animals and always wanted to be a veterinarian. Some people told me I can't do it because the field is so competitive, but I stood firm since I was a child, holding on to my ambitions and even now I'm pursuing them. It's a challenge I will overcome if I take steps, slowly but surely, towards my goal. Even I know that I am taking steps and planning the steps I will take towards my goal and the steps I plan to take to stand out as a candidate when I apply to veterinary school are to gain hands-on experience with animals in a variety of ways, gain experience working directly with a veterinarian and participating in my community.
