Anderson, J. N/A. Water supply. The environmental benefits of recycling and reusing water. Water science and technology. 3(4): 1-10Freshwater levels are at historic lows and with increasing demand for Ag and development, water is a scarce resource. The article analyzes the effects on how water reuse can help combat the need for less fresh water. The article illustrates with case studies the recycling of water in agriculture, in urban areas and in the integration of water resources in some different countries. The relationships between water reuse and sustainable water control are studied. Water conservation and recycling can produce significant ecological benefits, resulting from decreasing water diversion and reducing the impacts of wastewater disposal on the aquatic environment. Some cases are illustrated by demonstrating the ecological benefits in measurable terms. The scientists also explain the economic and ecological benefits highlighted in a number of recent water cycle planning practices in Australia and some other countries. Water Resources and Oil and Gas Development: A Survey of North Dakota Law North Dakota Law Review. 87(4): 507-533. North Dakota has been subject to a massive increase in oil production in just the last few years. The recent increase in oil field activity has led the North American region to question how much water will be available... middle of paper... petroleum-derived materials. Bioresource technology. 100(24): 6229-6235The amount of water produced by oil fields varies from time to time depending on the different extraction methods. Sometimes the well itself can produce 10 to 20 times the amount of water as oil. Scientists have found that the longer the well operates, the more water it produces over its lifetime. In drier climates it may prove more profitable to recycle the water produced and use it for agricultural reasons and for oil exploration itself. Life stabilization ponds are a treatment method that is most effective in dry, warmer climates. I found the source reliable because it has been peer reviewed.
