Topic > Racial discrimination, the exact opposite of social discrimination...

Social justice is equality and fairness for all human beings. It is the subject of many official Catholic teachings and Catholic organizations. To understand the reasons for the compassion and love of Catholics who seek peace and justice for all humanity, it is important to examine a specific example of human injustice in today's world. Racial discrimination is prejudicial behavior against a person based on their race. It is when someone is subjected to abusive behavior because they are of a different race. These actions occur in everyday society because people don't think, act, or believe the same things they do. Racial discrimination makes people feel that they are not welcome for who they were born and raised to become. This causes serious effects on that person's life and that of everyone else who comes into contact with them, as they may isolate themselves or even change the way they are just to fit in. This problem causes many people to feel that there is no peace or justice towards them, as they are part of the overall world population. The issue of racial discrimination challenges some of the commandments of God and Jesus. Hitler attempted to commit mass genocide on all the Jewish people. The Klu Klux Klan, also known as the KKK, decided to kill all African Americans. As God's 5th Commandment states, “Thou shalt not kill,” it applies to all types of murder, even for any reason such as racial discrimination, with prime examples being Hitler and the KKK. A person could kill a person through physical or mental means, as telling someone to kill themselves is classified, by law, as attempted manslaughter. The eighth commandment explores the fact that everyone should be treated equally, regardless of the reason. “You… middle of paper… Every person has the right to feel safe in their home and throughout society, to be treated equally by everyone they meet, for race should not be an issue difference maker in actions. As stated in John 7:24, "...Do not judge by outward appearance, but judge with righteous judgment..." everyone should be allowed to experience life without the burden of what they look like, what they believe, and how they behave . The actions of many people have disfigured the way God planned creation, and by acting in a discriminatory manner, they are not living their lives in the image of God. People have been treated unfairly for actions they did not perform, and some have even been killed horribly. No one should be subjected to such treatment in any way, shape or form. Social justice manifests itself through racial discrimination in the way laws and the church have helped eradicate this well
