It has been recorded that trillions of rupees have been supplied by the tobacco industry. Banning tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship, strengthening supervision of retail stores, imposing high taxes on tobacco products, and expanding smoke-free zones will have different effects for some industry players in the future. At least there are three actors involved, namely the tobacco companies, the government and the citizens. For tobacco companies, this policy will affect company sales. Tobacco companies argue that the tobacco industry plays an important role in the national economy, so if all public relations activities related to tobacco products were completely banned, the tobacco industry could be harmed economically by the bans, with the possibility of bankruptcy if their profits decreased, which led to massive unemployment. Thus, bans on tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship will reduce the government's economic burden. Compared to the economic losses or health costs resulting from tobacco consumption, these losses are much higher than the revenue the government received from tobacco excise taxes, which only reached IDR 103.53 trillion in 2013 (Research and Health Development Body 2014). Ultimately, it will influence citizens' behavior by discouraging them from purchasing cigarettes.
