Curious about how medications work, I always ask why when I am given a treatment. Without health insurance, my family relied on inexpensive over-the-counter medications because visits to the doctor were difficult to afford. The various medications for my recurring tonsil infections made me wonder about the logic behind them. I wish there was someone who could tell us if we are taking the right medications. My determination to become that person who can help those who have difficulty accessing healthcare increased my desire for higher education. Astonished as I was by the science courses, I wanted to move forward and make my knowledge useful. My desire to learn more about medications and apply that knowledge to help others with the effective use of medications inspired me to move forward with a career in pharmacy. Without guidance, I made a career in pharmacy possible even as I completed my undergraduate studies. My commitment to research projects on DNA repair mechanisms is due to my tenacity in understanding theories beyond the test bed. Likewise, I believed in the need to thoroughly understand the pharmaceutical career by participating in related activities. While I interpret for student pharmacists as they helped underprivileged elderly people to screen, I want to gain experience in infectious diseases and oncology because patients in these categories are more sensitive and need maximum attention. As a drug expert and last stop light to guide the effective administration of drugs, I hope to develop positive relationships with diverse patients and the healthcare team to best serve the purpose of fighting diseases. Furthermore, in addition to using my strong experience to advise patients on medicines and help them access better healthcare in disadvantaged communities at home and abroad, I hope to inspire my pharmacist colleagues to do the same
