“Just look at me,” said Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau in 1970. He meant it as he fought to keep Quebec a part of Canada. Not only did he do so, but he managed to be prime minister for 16 years, as well as being Canada's youngest leader at the time. It brought greater civil rights to Canadians, primarily Quebec citizens. His charismatic personality matched his innovative ideas, which improved Canada for the better. Throughout his political career, not only has Canada watched him, but the entire world has watched him change the country for the better. He brought radical change to Canada by championing the idea of officially implementing bilingualism. Trudeau was a trailblazer from the moment he was elected.
