In this article, researchers measured whether personality traits are associated with swimming and examined the concept that scores on certain personality traits may have a mutual and intertwined influence on other personality traits. They also studied how gender can play a role in modulating personality. Personality factors are determinants of psychological well-being and sport can, and does, contribute to an individual's well-being, thus influencing their personality factors. Sports can influence many personality traits and although very little research has been conducted on personality traits as it pertains to swimmers, the research conducted in this article is very relevant and precise. This experiment involves 100 volunteer swimmers aged between 19 and 55 and consisted of 50 men and 50 women.
