Topic > Essay on Kabbalah - 1306

Religion is universal among human groups. In general, religion is defined as a symbolic system that deals with the relationship of human beings to the supernatural, to divine or spiritual beings, or to matters that transcend mundane reality. (Womack) Mystical, spiritual and enlightened are just a few words that describe the Kabbalah belief system. Kabbalah, which means to receive, is founded on the fundamental belief that all human beings were placed on this earth to possess complete goodness and fulfillment through the light of the creator. Growing in joy, happiness and fulfillment is the end result for all humans and something that all humans can achieve. The history of Kabbalah belief has recently been rediscovered in the last 100 years, although it began in 100 AD Rav Shimon Bar Yochai (100 – 160 AD) established this belief system and was held responsible for writing the “secret wisdom”, which is a book that explains how the universe works. This book is called Zohar or Book of Splendor. After Rav Shimon Bar Yochai created and perfected his writings, he realized that since the world was not ready for wisdom, therefore, it was not revealed and in return, the Rav hid himself. . The teachings in the Zohar are about approaching the light of the creator and following in his footsteps and one of the most important symbols of faith. The Zohar, originally in Aramaic, translated into Hebrew by the Rav himself, tells us why the world is such a corrupt place. He goes on to say that because humans have to take sides, they are always at war with both sides possessing good and bad traits. The Ego or Desire to receive only for oneself: the desire to make sure that the self is all.. .... middle of paper ...... truth about them. The Zohar of Kabbalah is known to be a book of codes kept secret for thousands of years. The creators purposely created a hidden message behind a message that will never be discovered because over time stories always change and so do the meanings. I can't help but think that people can agree with different parts of a story but say that the person who said it got something wrong or left out some vital information, then created something that says "all the truth" which is probably the interpretation of the truth which very well could be the actual truth. However, the symbols in our world are depicted to us, they all have meanings that are important to someone somewhere and will be forgotten. They will circulate from one system to another only because the stories behind them will never die.
