Many teens and adults actually need more than eight hours of sleep, but fail to get the recommended amount of sleep. Sleep is necessary for important bodily functions and brain activity. Sleep is food for the brain, and just like food, without enough sleep you become irritable, grumpy, unable to concentrate, and more. Without a correct amount of sleep you can have depression, mental confusion, anxiety, mood swings, weight gain and serious health risks. Sleep is essential to health, as is the air you breathe, the water you drink and your food. you eat is for a living organism.
