Topic > Terrorism: its forms and effects - 1628

Terrorism has been on the rise in recent years. The most famous attack in recent years was the destruction of the Twin Towers in 2001. It sparked massive public outcry over the atrocity of the actions. What most people don't understand, however, is that the perpetrators of these attacks, called terrorists, have a goal in mind. People also don't realize that there are many types of terrorism, and they're not just limited to the attacker flying planes into famous buildings. The types of terrorism are quite varied, the reasons for each equally varied, and the public reaction is never the same for any of them. Terrorism, as it is defined, is the use of violent acts to intimidate or coerce a population into a particular type of action. This means that terrorists will try to cause harm to something or someone in order to convince the rest of the population to do something. Although today the most common form of terrorism is to explode something to kill as many people as possible. This doesn't exactly fit into any of the topics that will be discussed in this article. The five types of terrorism under discussion are: bioterrorism, cyberterrorism, ecoterrorism, nuclear terrorism, and narcoterrorism. Bioterrorism is the use of harmful biological agents against a group of people. This involves the release of viruses, bacteria and toxins to infect the general population (Zalman, Types of Terrorism). There are three different categories of this particular type of terrorism defined by the first three letters of the alphabet. Category A is the most severe level. It is defined as something that is easily transmitted from person to person, which has a high mortality rate and which easily causes fear among the population (CDC...... in the center of the card...... the battle alongside of the Mexican government to stop this atrocious business.
