Fertilization is a very important aspect in human life. Without fertilization the human being cannot reproduce and no offspring will be produced. This means that the human race will be completely wiped out in a century or so. So, when there is a problem in human fertility, it is very important to have a solution to overcome this problem. In vitro fertilization is one of the assisted reproductive technologies. Technically, it's not a technology. It is the procedure to help people who have not been able to have a child for various reasons. The main reason why couples are unable to have children is infertility. Infertility in humans is already a common thing. According to 2010 World Health Organization research, 48.5 million couples were unable to have children due to infertility. This is a very large number and needs a solution. Therefore, IVF was the solution for these people. It is now the main treatment to cure infertility for humans. However, IVF does more than spread a positive image in society. IVF has also created some controversy with some groups of people and concerns the basis of the definition of words, it is clear what IVF means. In vitro itself means something that is happening outside. Meanwhile, fertilization is the process of combining the male gamete (sperm) and female gamete (ovum) to form the zygote. Putting these words together, it clearly means that IVF is the formation of the zygote by the combination of the male and female gamete. this happens outside the body. In this case, all we will talk about is human fertilization. This in vitro fertilization is a type of assisted reproductive technology. The history of In Vitro Fertil...... middle of paper...... Furthermore, people claim that life begins the second after the birth of the fertilized egg and sperm. When something is alive, it deserves the same legal protection as living things. There are already lives behind those embryos and throwing them away is equivalent to killing them. Additionally, people have objected to clinics that destroy frozen embryos because they are the property of the owner. It is the owner's (in this case the donor's) decision to determine what will happen to the embryos. There are people who have feelings towards their embryos. Especially for the donor who goes through many processes to create those embryos. One donor said in an interview that many people put emotion and effort into producing embryos. Embryos matter because they are special to the people who donated them and it's just a personal feeling. For this reason they do not accept the elimination of their embryos.
