Topic > The importance of laboratory safety and laboratory safety

Proper training and knowledge are required. Below are some basic rules to follow while working in chemical laboratories: • Have good knowledge to identify and work with potential chemical hazards associated with an experiment before starting work. Refer to the MSDS for any chemical before using it. • Use laboratory safety equipment such as fume hoods and other local ventilation systems to prevent exposure to airborne chemicals. Wear gloves and other personal safety clothing to avoid skin contact with all laboratory chemicals to minimize exposure to them. • Place bottles of chemicals or solvents in appropriate cabinets and do not keep them on the floor to avoid unnecessary spills. Use plastic or plastic-lined glass bottles to store 4-liter solvents or acids.• Be careful when transporting solvent and acid bottles. Use rubber mounts.• Flammable cabinets should be used for flammable chemicals to avoid fires.• Clearly label all wash bottles, base baths, solvent bottles and chemicals with all important details, including the opening date. Label research specimens with chemical names and/or chemical structures and/or the relevant laboratory notebook number and page
