Even with the music removed from the background, leaving nothing but words to be heard, there is a story being told; all those who listen carefully to what is expressed can interpret and identify with its message. Rosenberg wrote the lyrics in a way that I find very meaningful and dear to my heart. The song “Let Her Go” is a brilliantly written piece composed of several poetic components that build a unique understanding of what it means to lose the things you take for granted. The first seven lines set the tone for the rest of the song. Rosenberg uses polar comparisons to delve into the fact that you don't realize what you have until it's long gone. In the sentence "the sun is only missing when it starts to snow" (Rosenberg, 2012) alliteration is used by repeating the sound of the "s" of the consonant, which makes the text flow; this poetic component is used in other lyrics of the song...
