Because organizations truly influence almost every aspect of our daily lives, it is critical for us to understand the what, how, and why of organizations (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2010) . This is why an adequate evaluation of organizational behavior is necessary. This essay will analyze the application of a critical thinking model to the study of organizational behavior. It will do this by first establishing clear definitions of key terms, describing Taylorism, Fordism and post-Fordism generally, and then proceeding to analyze several examples. These examples would refer to the above-mentioned theories of organizational behavior and the relationships between them. As a result of the analysis, a synthesis should be drawn focusing on the importance of applying an analytical method to understand organizational behavior. What makes this topic particularly interesting is that it relates an interdisciplinary research field (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2010) to a concrete way of perception and then questions it. However, it must remain clear that the term “critical approach” in the sense of understanding organizational behavior would mean the same thing as if one were to apply a critical approach within the field of study, i.e. an approach that challenges the status quo and does not ignore perspectives that are routinely ignored or otherwise excluded (Knights & Willmott, 2007). The first concept that is considered is Taylorism. By the name of Frederick Winslow Taylor the idea of scientific management theory is considered the basis of modern management (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2010).
