Obesity affects the lives of millions of Americans. Obesity is responsible for the development of many diseases, including heart disease and diabetes. Busy people choose to eat fast food instead of healthy homemade dinners because they don't have time to devote to cooking. Many people believe that they will never be overweight if they don't eat fast food. However, fast food itself is not the only reason for obesity. Poor knowledge of nutrition, bad eating habits, such as eating between meals, overeating and selecting foods that have little nutritional value, are the factors that should be considered in the discussion of obesity problems. Bad eating habits are the main cause of the obesity problem affecting American society. Unfortunately, not all people have a clear understanding of nutrition. Many people eat not out of hunger but rather to feel good and enjoy delicious foods. They care more about the flavors of food than the amount of calories or nutritional value. Overeating or overconsumption of food is responsible for indigestion and obesity. An online survey conducted by the United States Food and Drug Administration in 2008 revealed that 38 percent of the American population does not link fats to heart disease. About 20 percent of study participants didn't know that certain foods or drinks can help prevent heart disease or obesity. Additionally, 38% of participants failed to correctly identify that trans fats in the diet can increase the risk of heart disease and obesity, while nearly 48% were unaware that omega-3 fatty acids can reduce the risk. of heart disease, while 17% did not know. know that saturated fats can increase the risk of heart disease and obesity (US FDA et al.). At the heart of physical activity, it is very important to follow a well-balanced diet to prevent obesity and related diseases.
