Nature versus nurture has emerged as one of the most heated debates of the 21st century. It is more aligned with the internal and external factors that make up the behavior of human beings. Internal factors are innate and perceived as genetically rotated as opposed to external factors which are influenced by the environment and individuals' experiences. However, scholars in different fields have studied the relationship between nature and nurture without due success and this has created gaps for further research on this topic. In this context, academic sources will be examined to carefully examine their point of contention on this topic and to criticize them for their shortcomings in addressing this topic. In Bryner Jeanna (2006) in her book "Nature vs. Nurture: Mysteries of Individuality Unraveled" published by Live Science, crucial questions arise as to whether some events are based on genetic inheritance or are the result of simple coincidence. Things like talent, intelligence, and personality come to the foreground in their discussion of whether they are inherited or acquired through environmental exposure and experience (Bryner). In his opinion, these questions have posed many challenges to philosophy, psychology and genetics. In an attempt to ascertain their claims, twin studies were used. The aim of the study was to determine whether genes play a significant role in influencing some common behaviors such as addiction, violence and giftedness. Furthermore, the possibility that genes could contribute to diseases has also been studied. Through research, smoking has been found to be affected by a gene known as CYP2A6 which varies from individual to individual (Bryner).
