People can change their ways over time in a positive way. Everyone has experienced change once in their life. Some people recognized change throughout life in a positive or negative way. Throughout the novel “The First Stone” by Don Aker, the main character Reef alters his ways in very positive ways. Reef is a teenager who changes his lifestyle and makes a huge impact in his life after meeting Leeza. This novel develops the fact that people can change in beneficial ways, regardless of the situation they find themselves in. Reef develops the ability to care for others over the course of the book when he visits Jink in the hospital. In this part of the novel, Reef shows a deep and sincere sadness at seeing his friend in such a vulnerable state.
