Born a KillerDoes the name Ted Bundy mean anything to you? A handsome, intelligent and devious young man responsible for around forty murders between 1964 and 1978. Ted (Theodore) Bundy was born on November 24, 1946 in Burling, Vermont. Mother Eleanor Cowell was at a stage in her life where she was a single mother capable of caring for her son. So he let his parents step in and raise young Theodore. With this event, Theodore grew up believing that his birth mother was his sister and that his grandparents were his parents. Ted showed a very strange interest at an early age. At the age of 3 he became very fascinated by knives. (TB Bio) Things started to get suspicious when one morning, Ted's 15-year-old aunt woke up to find him lifting the covers over her and sticking butcher knives into the bed next to her. (Newton30). Once she approached him, he didn't seem to think anything was wrong. He looked up and smiled as if nothing had happened. He ran into the kitchen, put the knives back and told his mother what had happened. No one thought about it, but she knew something was wrong. While Theodore remained with his grandparents, Eleanor decided to move to Tacome, Washington for a few years, but not alone. It was a very difficult decision, but he wanted young Theodore to join the group and things would never be the same again. In 1951 she married a man named Jonnie Bundy and the couple enjoyed life as any couple would and had several children together (TB Bio). Growing up despite good grades in school, Ted's file was full of notes from his teacher. One of the notes was about his unpredictable character (Newton 30). By the time Ted finished high school he was a compulsive masterbator and nocturnal voyeur (Newton 30). Ted had also been arrested twice on charges of b...... middle of paper... Bundy had spent years trying to fight for his life, spending the last two years of his life appealing his conviction to death. He also tried to keep his case alive by trying to take it to the highest levels of the U.S. Supreme Court, but his case was thrown out. He also tried to give more information on the case that remained unsolved to avoid the electric chair in Florida. By now it was too late to resolve things and clarify things. Ted had to face time for the brutal things he did to those beautiful young women, even though it killed him. On January 24, 1989, Theodore "Ted" Bundy was executed at 7 that morning. As Bundy sizzled under his chair outside, the crowd cheered, set off fireworks and even cheered to finally know that justice had been stopped. The families could finally sleep knowing that the killer who had put so much pain in their lives was now answering to someone beyond this.
