Topic > Personal recommendation: The Hobbit

IndexThe settingPlotRecommendationI chose the book "The Hobbit" because the title really inspired me. On the back of the book it was written that it was about a dragon and a hobbit named Bilbo Balings who would be involved in a very dangerous plot. So I started reading it and it was a lot of fun! Some varieties coexist peacefully with each other, but there are also wars. The three main characters are:Bilbo Balings: At first he fears almost everything. He doesn't dare much and is a great coward, but at the end of this story he turns into a strong and courageous man who fights for his friends. Gandalf: (a wizard) is a calm and intelligent person. If there seems to be no way out (because they are trapped), they always seem to know what to do and how to get out. Thorin Oakenshield: the leader of the dwarves who comes from Mount Erebor, never afraid, truculent, hates elves, a born leader with a strong mind. PlotThe story began in a place called the Shire. Bilbo Balings lives peacefully in his house when suddenly the wizard Gandalf comes looking for him. Gandalf convinces Bilbo to join the 13 dwarves on their journey to reclaim the lonely mountain that had been captured by the dragon Smaug. On the way the dwarves are captured by goblins. When Bilbo loses the group and falls into a cave, he encounters a creature called Gollum. Gollum has a ring that can make him invisible. During their journey they meet many people (good and bad), but nothing will stop the dwarves from climbing up the mountain and slaying the dragon. They manage to kill the dragon Smaug. This means that the dwarves have their treasure (a lot of money) again. Thorin is addicted to his money and doesn't want to lose it. Meanwhile there is a really big war going on with the goblins. Everyone fights against them, even the elves. Thorin realizes he was wrong and fights with Azog, the destroyer, wins and kills him, but he also dies. Please note: this is just an example. This book was never boring. It had my interest the entire time, because there were a lot of cliffhangers. For example, when they are captured by giants, you want to know what happens next. Some parts were difficult to read because they contained difficult words. One of them was agitated, I needed to look for it. Overall the book is really nice, good explanations of the characters and the plot. I recommend it to everyone because the book is fantastic. It has everything in it: action, drama, humor, love, happiness. I think the best part was when Bilbo Balings met Gollum on the mountain. I didn't know what was going to happen. It was really exciting to read that part.
