I have always been fascinated and intrigued by the interactions and evolution of human beings. More specifically, the growth and development of children into adulthood, which is what led me to specialize in FSHD. My interest in working with children and learning how they develop comes from growing up with two younger sisters. One of whom suffered from hyperactive deficit disorder. Being the older sister with two working parents, taking care of my sister was a big daily challenge. Every day was an unpredictable day, one day she was calm, relaxed and peaceful. While the next day she was super active, impulsive and aggressive. I was forced to find solutions on how to deal with each situation and be able to overcome the challenge for one day, until the next day came again. Having this experience in my life is one of the many reasons I have found an interest in family studies and human development. Not just focusing on children with disabilities but on every child in general, because every child is different and unique. The development and behavior of each of them is influenced by many factors, and this is what I find fascinating. Although working with children is one of the things I'm most optimistic about doing. I haven't decided on a specific career for a specific job yet. Being a student at FSHD has definitely introduced me to the many ways I can pursue a career working with children. Two of the career paths I have discussed are that of family therapist or child specialist. As an FSHD student, I truly hope to find my favorite career with all the options presented to me. I have also been fortunate to gain knowledge not only about human development, but also about close human relationships, including marriage. I believe that having an education is of great importance, especially having an education in a field where you will make a career because you will essentially be dealing with other people's problems. Having an education also gives you credibility, which gives the people you work with confidence in what you do or say to them. More importantly, education provides you with opportunities and opens doors for you to do whatever you set your mind to and be successful. Please note: this is just an example.
