The Police degree will provide me with all the key skills, ethics and attitudes needed to begin my career in the police force. I am particularly interested in gaining field experience as a Special Agent alongside my academic studies. I previously studied Sociology at GCSE and was particularly interested in examining social issues relating to crime. One of the thematic areas I conducted research on was the many factors that influence criminal behavior, such as social class, age and gender. I recently completed a diploma in Economics and achieved a triple degree of distinction. Throughout this course, I was able to demonstrate effective communication with my peers and mentors, through means such as presentations and group discussions. During my Economics degree, I was able to develop key transferable skills, including the ability to carry out in-depth independent research, complete in-depth reports and have a high attention to detail such as statistical data analysis. I previously completed a module on effective team building and this allowed me to develop my diplomacy and negotiation skills. Furthermore, this module allowed me to develop my ability to give help and support to other members of my team. These skills will be useful for my university studies as they will allow me to work effectively together with my colleagues while completing my learning. These are also skills needed for a future career as a police officer in providing support and help to members of the public and wider communities. In my free time I enjoy playing team sports and am currently an active member of both a netball and badminton team. Please note: this is just an example.
