Fairytale lands where everything is perfect, imaginary kingdoms where growing up is stress-free. There is no doubt that teenagers today believe that growing up is a walk in the park and take increasingly longer to take on responsibilities. Teens now believe that adulthood is like a fairytale movie, you get lucky and suddenly you're rich. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? When we think about rites of passage, the most frequent concepts that come to mind are ceremonies such as birth, puberty and marriage. Rites of passage are events that we encounter throughout our lives, from beginning to end. These events, however, are different from initiations because an initiation is more about where you have to support yourself to be recognized, but a rite of passage is about more individual acceptance into your life. And in my opinion the transition to adulthood is the most significant one in a person's life. Since ancient times, a line has always been drawn between adulthood and childhood, which have always been classified as two different types of times. Now, when you think about the differences between adulthood and childhood, it's almost non-existent. Most cultures we recognize today expect a person to be a specific age before they can be recognized as an adult. Some separate cultures may see how well an individual performs at a particular task before they can see him or her as a developed man or woman. Many people tend to believe that adulthood comes during the course of puberty. What I believe in my personal experience is that we become adults through the experiences and understanding of life. Age does not play a central role in determining whether you have grown up or not. But I also believe that it takes young adults longer to mature into fully grown adults, ready to deal with real-life situations. I think our society associates age with growing up in years because they consider it easy to assume that a person will be able to handle certain responsibilities at a certain age and in some cases that would be right, however in other cases it could be terribly wrong. In my opinion, young adults are taking longer to mature, this is due to the fact that teenagers are moving away from adult responsibilities such as finding a job, learning to drive and being put in harsh working conditions, more than any generation in the past. Comparing them to the kids of the 70's, 80's and 90's, today's youth take their sweet time to do these tasks. I can't believe that it's only the children's fault, parents today see themselves as protectors rather than guides. Somewhere along the way, numerous parents began to accept that their job was to help children mature with almost no emotional and physical hurt possible. They became so controlling that their children never practiced facing challenges on their own. Therefore, these kids have grown to consider that they are too delicate to handle the realities of life. In conclusion, as a society and culture, this is something that is missing from the adolescent world of this generation, as there is no real cultural tradition, rites or rituals that a teenager can participate in. Remembering their cultural heritage leads him to become ignorant or completely unaware of his culture. Now I'll start with this quote from Virginia Woolf. Please note: this is just an example.
