Anime some may know as cartoons, but anime is generally considered a form of entertainment. The Japanese have been producing and creating animation for over 100 years and are known for their ability to create realistic characters, scenarios and action scenes. The anime subculture can be equally interesting when you consider that there are many types of anime and can be compared to gaming culture, comic book culture, and other well-known "Geek cultures". There are many different types of anime today and not only the newer anime but also the process of animating anime, films and artwork which has not only made anime only aimed at children but also adults. Therefore, what makes an anime popular not only in Japan but around the world? well as I stated simply because it is different. Anime and its plots are not only aimed exclusively at children, an example of this can be Death Note, high school student and prodigy Light Yagami comes across a notebook titled Death Note and since he deplores the government of that world he tests that notebook toxic by publishing the name of the criminal. When the criminal dies soon after his quest with this Death Note, Light is very stunned and quickly recognizes how devastating the force that ended up in his hands would be. Now I can list various examples one after another about how anime and the genre is not just for kids, but what I find really interesting is what are some of the anime that have impacted the industry and shaped it as it is Today. Now, this may be a debatable topic as to which anime is considered the best or most influential, but anime can be what you feel from it, how and what did you understand from the experience of watching it? An anime that influenced me the most when I watched it and is highly regarded for its plot and animation is Neon Genesis Evangelion director Hideaki Anno's depression is what led to the dark themes in Neon Generation Evangelion . Budget issues and parental complaints about the anime's subject matter led to the new final product being scrapped and replaced with the limited-animation ending that breaks away from the main plot. The show was a hit among critics and fans alike, proving that anime isn't just for kids, this show has made an impact on the world of anime. Personally the movie that continued throughout the show showing the true ending of the series shows the protagonist Shinji Kari coming to the realization of self-acceptance and how he feels about himself. It also showed how he feels towards his family and friends - there is a powerful sense in which the characters are able to express the true feelings in which he needs and accepts that he needs help. This show proved to be very successful due to its strong plot, which made it so intriguing and unique that the creator wanted to show how depression, anxiety, fear of being alone felt through the protagonist Shingi Ikari and I have come to understand and understand that depression is not something you can get rid of on your own. Anime has struck a chord with many and we can see the impact it has had not only in Japan but around the world, we can see that anime culture is not just about anime but manga, cosplay, conventions and video games have also been influenced from anime and the Japanese entertainment industry. However, there are still many people who don't know what anime is or how it works and how to get into it. anime culture, well like any fandom you want to support the people who create the show, music, etc. the way we can participate in such culture if one is more interested is through conventions and what exactly happens at these conventions and what is done? Well, this kind of conventions are sometimes held all over the world to invite people who have an interest and passion for anime, some can participate in cosplay by going to panels and can buy items that you can't buy anywhere so easily at Sometimes it can be trading cards, posters, DVDs or even manga. These conventions are held in different locations every year. One of the most popular anime conventions is held here in California, Los Angeles, called Anime Expo. I have had the pleasure of attending for 3 consecutive years as I enjoy participating and experiencing the whole cosplay experience, purchasing posters and trading cards and enjoying time with friends who have the same hobby and appreciate anime as much as I do. When I first discovered anime I was 13 years old. I remembered how uninterested I was in the culture and only knew so little about it, my closest friends on the other side had been fans of the genre for some time as they wanted me to know more about the genre and introduced me to an anime that I would be interested in Ouran High School Host Club, a romantic comedy based on the manga by Bisco Hatori. As I continued to watch the series I fell in love with the characters and found myself laughing, crying and having fun and I saw that I was committed these characters live and indulge in what would happen next and after finishing the show I found myself sad in wanting to see more and learn more as I started searching the internet to know what else I should watch as I found a long list of all these anime based on the romance genre. I found myself loving everything I watched and learned to appreciate not only the romantic aspect of anime but also other genres that go along with it and those anime that are the best and made it possible for everyone, somehow, to come to love and appreciate the genre and it's something truly wonderful that we can all enjoy.
