Outside of school I struggle with my health, being president of the Venturing team, and trying to be a leader to the people around me. Thyroid cancer has completely changed my perspective on life. It made me want more control over my life because when you have cancer it's mostly up to the doctors what happens. It made me want to improve my life and go on an adventure that I had never done or seen before. Thyroid cancer has made me a better person. Being team president at Venuring has shown me that I have to take a stand in what happens in my life. If I want to do something, I will do it and help others around me achieve that goal in their lives. Being president of a club or team also means being a leader. A leader is someone who really gives it their all and helps the people around them succeed in life, like a job interview. To get an interview you need to be exceptional at the application process. But getting the interview is one of the hardest parts of getting a job. I had to sit down with a complete stranger to talk about my strengths and weaknesses while my social anxiety told me I was wrong, that I said the wrong thing.
