A 2 year old boy was admitted for a head injury and on doctor's orders there to run the Glasgow Coma Scale every hour. Doctors and nurses explained everything to the mother and the importance of doing the GCS. When the time passed after midnight due to GCS, the child could not fall asleep and the mother felt distressed, then the mother asked the nurse (diploma) taking care of the child to skip the hourly observations. The nurse (diploma) consulted with the doctor on call for neurosurgery and he explained to the nurse to advise the mother the importance of hourly observations. However, similar situation with another nurse (baccalaureate), when the parents asked to skip the hourly observations she explained in detail the consequences for not doing the observation and the parents understood the importance of continuing the observations for their child. The difference is that the registered nurse did not try to explain to the parents again, but the BSN nurse with her knowledge explained and taught the parents the severity of the head injury observations. He didn't need the doctor's reassurance to talk to his parents. New graduate nurse the logic behind care
