Bad weather and flight delays had put us four hours behind schedule. So we made sure to get around the other passengers and quickly crossed the corridor. As we walked out towards the airport I also caught a glimpse of another Pakistani family hastily walking towards the front. We cross half the airport and arrive at the international terminals… But it was too late. They had closed the gates five minutes earlier. My mother tried to reason with them and pleaded with them that we cannot afford to miss this flight and the other Pakistani family reached us quite early and tried to ask them to let us go. We explained that it wasn't our fault and that the weather conditions had messed up our schedule but they stopped listening to us. They just told us to leave otherwise they would call security. Hard. And so we were at an airport, in a different state, with a missed flight and no hotel, at 11 in the morning. We were hungry, we were tired, the kids were sleepy and cranky, and the airport was practically empty
