Apart from this, the internet has influenced my life as it allows me to be bold and create something amazing without anyone's permission. In the pre-internet age, to learn and progress at something you had to read an often outdated book or find someone to teach you the information. Once you had enough knowledge of your trade, you had to work with someone in some sort of apprenticeship and were essentially not allowed to advance in the industry until they deemed you fit to do so. You had to have someone else's permission to progress further in your work. Today the Internet allows anyone to create something amazing, and the low barrier to entry means no one has an excuse not to be amazing. Two college kids created the site Reddit with nothing more than a laptop, an Internet connection, and some ramen noodles, and today the site receives over 8 billion visits a month!
