Dead Poets' Moment to Come is a film about how a teacher, John Keating, teaches his students Carpe Diem or "seize the day". Most of Mr. Keating's students do something different to start seizing the moment. Neil Perry, Charlie Dalton and Knox Overstreet are some of Mr. Keating's students who believe deeply in Carpe Diem. Neil Perry comes from a very controlling family. If Neil's grades fall below an A average, he will be punished by his father. Neil loves acting and once tried out for a play, but his overly controlling father doesn't want Neil to do anything that could ruin his grades. After meeting Mr. Keating, Neil finds that he needs to start seizing the moment, so he restarts Mr. Keating's old club, Dead poets Society. So Neil involves all his friends in starting the old club and, now, with the confidence that comes from starting the club, he decides to go further when he goes against his father's requests and auditions for the show at a school nearby to his. When Neil gets the lead role, he creates two fake letters from the principal and his father so he can participate in the show. Mr. Perry, Neil Perry's father, finds out at dinner from a friend that his son is in a theater show, but when he finds his son, he tells him that he is forbidden to attend the show, because he acted behind his back. Mr. Keating is met by Neil soon after talking to his father, and he tells Mr. Keating how he feels about his father. John Keating tells Neil to talk to his father and explain why he wants to be in the show. Since Neil's father doesn't allow Neil into the show, Neil ages behind his back to play his part in the show, and when he does he receives a standing ovation. Cha... center of paper... Her boyfriend beats up Knox Overstreet and she tells Knox to leave while she calms her boyfriend down. Later in the school year Knox goes to Chris' school to read to her poems he has composed, and she comes to school to talk to him. He starts yelling at Knox and tells him that he stopped his boyfriend, but Knox asked Chris to go to the theater that night and give him a chance. While Knox takes her hand at the show, Chris doesn't take it back, which leads the audience to the question: Did he take the girl? Nearly every student in Mr. Keating's class learns what it means to seize the day. Even though Mr. Keating is fired from the school because of a lie, he leaves the students with the knowledge that there is more to life than being in order. "Seize the day" is exactly what Charlie Dalton, Neil Perry and Knox Overstreet learned from their experience with Mr. Keating.
