Numerous research studies have been conducted on the influence of social media ((Facebook, Twitter, etc.) on the political activity of young people nowadays. Many theories are been used to examine this issue and explain the observed phenomenon. This involves different aspects of the examination than previous studies of mainstream media discourse (newspapers, broadcasts, etc.) to study the effects of social media on which types of political issues. young people think. This study will seek to examine how social media coverage of political issues influences political participation among young people aged 18 to 25, and in particular how opinion leaders' speeches on social media influence people's opinion and activity in politics. A mixed methodology of survey research and content analysis will be applied to analyze the main context of this research. Redefining social media and participation, Effing et al pointed out that with the growth of social media, “politicians and government could create opportunities for political participation: enabling, engaging, and empowering followers for various benefits. 30)However, their field study showed results that contradicted their prediction, which indicated that “the use of social media does not always result in a more effective political campaign” (p. 32). Based on this result, they determined the agenda for future studies: further exploration on how social media can be implemented to increase political participation and what are the principles of designing social media strategy to increase political participation can be incorporated in the discussion of my research as my research proposal raises issues of agenda setting and framing strategies, such as implementing social media to augment politics
