They take the mind to a place where the child is actually with the characters and not just reading about them. Having and creating a healthy mind involves several aspects. You should not expect your child to get anything positive from a violent and evil fairy tale, except fear. Fear will not teach the child how to face or manage their problems. A contemporary fairy tale will teach them how to deal with their problems without scaring the children who have listened to or read these fairy tales. The English writer GK Chesterton stated: “Fairy tales do not tell children that dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children that dragons can be killed.” (Taylor, Melissa). Learning to deal with problems helps build a healthy and stable mind. In addition to learning to deal with problems, children also learn to read better. When reading the most modern fairy tales, one book will not be enough and they will want to read another. It will also push them to explore more of what they are reading and broaden their knowledge on the topic. For example, if a child is reading something about dragons and is intrigued by them, then he or she will go and read more about these dragons and begin to open up a whole new world of possibilities about what he or she might learn ("The Influence of Fairy Tales on Life" ). If the fairy tale scares the child, he will absolutely not want to take another one. As a result, when reading the darkest fairy tales to a child, the growth of knowledge is slowed down and this is not healthy for your child.
