Post onboarding process The onboarding process will prepare the employee to take on his role in the company. The first 3 months are very important from the point of view of employee engagement and retention. Once the employee has been mapped into the department, the management/reporting manager should take the following actions: Setting expectations: The management/reporting manager should meet with the new hire immediately after he or she has been mapped into the department and define the expectations with him/her in terms of what the deliverables are, what kind of behaviors are expected and his/her performance would be evaluated. The goal is for the new hire to have complete clarity of the role and what is expected of him/her. During the first month the HoD should interact with the new hire at an interval of 15 days to understand how he or she is doing, whether there are any issues and resolve any issues identified. During the next two months, the HoD should interact with the individual at least once a month. Preferably no specific targets should be given to the new hire in the first two months and he should be allowed to settle into the system. Once objectives have been assigned, it should be clearly explained to the individual how their performance will be measured, how often performance will be reviewed and when the evaluation will take place.
