When I was little my parents always encouraged me and helped me try everything I wanted to try. When I wanted to try dancing, my mom enrolled me in ballet and tap classes. It was great, especially the tap dancing, however, because I was so young, I valued sleep more than dance lessons and lost interest. The next thing I tried was football. It was a lot of fun and I continued to do it for many years. I think the reason I loved it so much was because the whole time I played, I had the same supportive teammates and encouraging coach, we really were a team. Alas, it was too good to last. It was only when the team disbanded that I slowly began to lose interest in football too, and my involvement waned. Around the same time I was getting into soccer, I started to really take an interest in my school work and more academic clubs. My interest in academics began when I had a friend in the Signet program in third grade. I loved talking to her about all the cool things she learned and the fun she had learning them. I begged my parents and teachers to get me into the program and eventually I was able to take the test. Joining Signet was one of the best things I have ever been a part of as it really opened my eyes to fun things and more interesting parts of school and learning. Up until that point, I hadn't thought much about school, I'd never had any major problems other than a slight reading disability, which made learning to read more difficult. School, for me at that time, was simply where I had to go every day and where all my friends were. To this day, I am still part of the Signet program and have learned a lot. Signet was really what sparked my interest in academic clubs and p......middle of paper......becoming a doctor or nurse, I didn't even think about physical therapy until It was suggested to me by my mother, who saw one for the back. She was able to connect me with her physical therapist once I expressed interest. I finished two days of volunteering and shadowing a practicing physical therapist and seeing what they did on an average day. I was hooked. I began to research what it meant to be a physical therapist and how they could help others in numerous ways and in many different contexts. I decided right then and there that this was what I wanted to do in life. I can't wait to start learning the skills and knowledge needed to excel in my chosen field, and while I know it won't be easy, I will work as hard and diligently as I can to achieve my goals, not just to become a physiotherapist but also being the first in my family to graduate.
