Edgar Hoover has a very unique style or leadership. I consider him a transformational leader. A transformational leader exemplifies five characteristics, which include creativity, interactivity, visionary, empowerment, and passion. Transactional forms of leadership are seen in many transformational leaders in the form of recognizing the contributions of group members. Hoover is a transformational leader because he embodies an abundance of charisma. Charisma can be seen as charm, but I like to think of it as passion combined with self-confidence. Edgar was a very driven man when it came to the security and well-being of the United States. Charisma is a characteristic that every leader must possess. Hackman & Johnson define charisma as providing vision and a sense of mission; inspire; build trust and respect. As director of the FBI, it was critical that Edgar engage his team with his ideas, otherwise citizens would continue to be at risk. Hoover was a creative genius. He developed a system to find books throughout the library by subject and author. This process halved the time spent searching for books. It used the same framework to develop its fingerprint database. Although implementing this database would have taken a long time, his foresight took the lead
