In “Some Moral Minima”, Goodman states, “if it is true that no norm can be established unless some other is compromised , and are there any rules that tell us that principles are principles – no rules that concretely and uncompromisingly delineate right from wrong?” (Goodman, 2010, p. 87)Every society has customs and distinctive traits to which each of these customs belong. Cultures and societies all have different moral standards. Lenn E. Goodman, states that we as human beings and the societies we constitute can be wrong, unjust, vicious, tragically, or self-deceiving (Goodman, 2010, p. 88). When it comes to right and wrong, this is because neither what is virtuous within a particular individual, nor the culture, nor the morality of society need to be understood and taken into account (Mosser, 2010). Bimal Matilal, a young Oxford scholar, strove to distinguish relativism from pluralism. He named four: respect for life, deference to truth, abhorrence of theft and rejection of adultery, which deserve universal support. (Goodman, 2010, p. 89). Goodman then goes on to list four areas of relativism and morality where he believes they are simply wrong and should be eliminated. These are (1) genocide, politically, induced famine and biological warfare; (2) terrorism, hostage-taking and child warriors; (3) slavery, polygamy, and incest; and (4) rape and female genital mutilation (Goodman, 2010, p. 89). I believe that Mr. Goodman is correct in his decision that genocide, politically, induced famine and biological warfare and that genocide, famine and biological warfare are wrong. . Genocide is aimed at individuals who are members of a particular group, who want to destroy a race, cultural, linguistic or ethnic identity... at the center of the card... someone's body but their personality, invested deeply in own sexuality. Cliterodectomy, Goodman explains, is the primary organ of a woman's sexual gratification, and orgasmic satisfaction robs her of it in adulthood. (Goodman, 2010, p. 92) Works Cited Genocide. (n.d.).
