CHAPTER 1INTRODUCTION1.0 INTRODUCTIONThis chapter provides the basis of the study on the influence of training and development. This chapter also describes the training overview, problem statement, research questions, research objectives, significance of the study and also the overview of the research framework. 1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Training is a process through which skills and attributes are developed, and information is provided, in order to help people working in organizations become more effective and efficient in carrying out their tasks. Better job performance will make the greatest contribution to the organization, not only in the present but also in the future. The goal of training is for employees to acquire knowledge, learn new skills and behaviors emphasized in training programs, and apply them to their daily tasks. The long-term planning used in most companies that invest in developing new skills for their workforce has enabled the company to cope with the uncertainty it may face in the future. When employees are recognized by the organization for their interests in the company through offering training programs, they will apply their best efforts to achieve organizational goals and demonstrate high performance at work. Training should involve more than just developing basic skills to enable companies to gain a competitive advantage. An important area of ​​the human resource management function of particular relevance to the effective use of human resources is training. The independent variable is a variable that is expected to influence the dependent variable. This research uses training effort, training content, delivery approach, and training evaluation as independent variables. The dependent variable is a criterion or variable that must be predicted or explained. The dependent variable for this study is job performance. 1.8 CONCLUSION The first chapter of this study presents the study and the purpose of the study. Includes study background, industry background, problem statements, research objectives, research questions, significance of the study, research framework, and summary of hypotheses.
