Of all the different types of music we have studied, I have to say that my favorite type of music is from the mid to late 60's, 70s and 80s era. My favorite style of music would be rock & roll. To be more specific, I'm talking about some pieces of music that we studied in units 12, 13 and 18 of our textbook. I like this musical style best because it best represents who I am and what I like. The song lyrics during these times were mostly fun and easily understandable compared to other genres of music before that seemed very dark, depressing or difficult to understand or relate to. In my opinion, rock and roll is just easier to understand. listening and dancing, compared to other musical genres before the 1950s. This was mainly due to the fact that the lyrics and music before the 1950s were boring and very difficult to dance to. I'm sure my opinion on this type of music before the 50's is just based on my age and the era I grew up in. Rock and Roll has a good rhythm and backbeat that sounds different from other genres of music before it. . It also has a blues influence which I like. The early genres of music in my opinion didn't have the same kind of rhythm, speed, syncopation or strong backbeat, riffs and hooks that rock & roll has. I also like the vocal ranges of some rock & roll musicians and their ability to make them so unique. From the early 60s onwards, music in general sounded much better. Rock and roll during these periods also became more rhythmically better. I personally have always appreciated the different and unique instrument sounds that musicians in rock & roll bands could create using the synthesizer, their electric guitars,...... middle of paper... some of my favorites from this record. All the songs on this album had all the rock & roll elements that I absolutely love. Their songs were also very danceable and fun to listen to. In conclusion I have to underline that it was very difficult for me to choose just one musical style or just two bands. There are many other styles of music that I enjoy listening to and numerous artists that I totally appreciate. I could probably write forever naming all the musicians and different styles of music I like. It was also a little difficult for me to explain rock & roll specifically, because it contains many of the elements of the different genres of some of the previous pieces of music we have known. studied. I just know that rock & roll would not have become what it is today if it weren't for our musicians of the past who allowed us to learn and grow from them.
