The issue of gender inequality has plagued society throughout history. Countries like Canada, with charters guaranteeing constitutional rights and freedoms, have not always been fair. At one point in Canadian history, women were not even legally considered people. Of course, this is scandalous. However, women today are still oppressed and denied the opportunity to seek self-fulfillment in cultures around the world. What is even more unfortunate is that children are especially harmed by such injustices, regardless of their gender. To reverse the damage, parents should raise their male and female children equally to give them equal opportunities throughout their lives. Male and female children raised equally will have the opportunity to recognize their interests, talents and abilities despite the forces of social conditioning. Children raised with balanced views will have a greater sense of respect for the opposite sex and promote gender equality throughout their lives. Furthermore, the benefits resulting from parents' decisions to raise their children equally, in the absence of traditional gender roles, will contribute to a more complete and prosperous society. Male and female adolescents raised equally will have the freedom to recognize their interests, talents, and abilities undaunted by the forces of social conditioning. Children are subject to social conditioning before they are even born. In anticipation of the birth of their baby, parents will paint their daughter's bedroom pink. They will imagine enrolling her in ballet lessons, organizing tea parties and playing dress-up. Which, according to the company, are all predominantly female activities. They will feel more at peace with themselves and towards the opposite sex. Ultimately, society will benefit from parents' decisions to raise their children in the absence of traditional gender roles. This greater sense of equality will contribute to more complete and prosperous individuals, resulting in a more complete and prosperous society.
