What is Typography? It is important for graphic designers to understand the concept and term of the word "Typography". Typography is simply the art and technique of arranging typefaces and also the design and use of typefaces as movable typefaces. It's central to a designer's work and skills, and it's about much more than just making words readable and readable. It is believed to have started with Gutenberg and the development of movable type. But typography has its roots in handwritten letters. Typography includes everything from calligraphy to digital type and type on web pages. It also includes type designers who create new letterforms, as well as designers and calligraphers who use letters as part of their designs.HistoryHow it beganThe first type of messages that we find in historical documents were a series of images that told a story known as pictographs. From pictograms, more sophisticated ways of communicating through ideograms were created. Ideograms replaced symbols for images of events. The symbol of a star represented the heavens or a peace pipe represented peace. Native Americans and Egyptians are examples of some people who used ideograms. Chinese characters are still based on ideograms. Egyptian Hieroglyphics From ideograms the Egyptians developed a more pioneering system of illustration called Hieroglyphs. The Egyptians still used drawings to represent objects or ideas, but they were the first to use objects to represent sounds. Development of Letters Around 1200 BC, the Phoenicians declared their independence from the Egyptians and developed their own alphabet which was the first to be composed exclusively of letters. The Greeks adopted the Phoenician language and began to expand the true beginning......middle of paper......the trend will continue into 2014 and many designers will favor sites that promote functionality over form and place a clear emphasis about simplicity, minimalism and intelligibility. With this continued emphasis on flat design comes the tendency to choose fonts that are easy to read, using clean lines and even strokes. The fonts that will become popular with flat design are those that are shared and crisp, but still visually interesting. Large fonts, based on large font research from 2014, will be a new trend. Web designers in particular will definitely use this type to grab the attention of viewers. In line with the emphasis on content over aesthetics, increasing the font size on web pages ensures that text is clear, legible and understandable. Due to higher screen resolutions, the standard 12-point font is no longer as readable as before.
