Topic > voices (19). I agreed that collectively within an organization there are people who can help find a solution or help a company be more profitable, without being subject matter experts. Signing up to a crowdsourced job website, called Clickworker.com, and miserably failing to earn more than ten cents, I don't think worked in my favor. However, I see how Clickworker benefits from this. Clickworker, is a website that offers services to companies that need to complete large or complex projects, cheaply. Here's how it works. First the company places an order for a job. For example, let's say an organization wants a comprehensive directory of online businesses, compiled into a single database. Instead of hiring one person to research and complete this tedious and time-consuming task, it is deployed to over 500,000 people worldwide to do the task at hand. In exchange, registered Clickworkers receive monetary credit for each task...... middle of paper ......n knowledge of people as a group. American businesses and those around the world have in the past overlooked this treasure of knowledge hidden in their workforce. I think it's fair to say that companies are realizing how powerful the crowdsourcing engine is. I believe the driving force of this engine is fueled by Facebook.com and twitter.com. Social networks have set the pace in how information is shared and collected and have paved the way for sites like Clickworkers to tap into that crowd. Again, though Clickworker didn't work in my favor. That doesn't mean I can't find another audience to tap into, which is equally beneficial to me and the website. At first it may seem that diversity and decentralization are not necessary, however it was necessary to help Clickworkers find the special group of people needed to complete the goal, in order to be profitable.
