Consider the examples of NEGATIVE THINKING listed below which are consciously evoked thoughts that are placed in our minds through temptation. Try to remember the words that were said to your spouse based on your thoughts. • Personalize – Thinking that all situations and events revolve around you. • Magnification – Blowing negative events out of proportion. • Minimize – Ignore positive factors. Overlooking the fact that everything went well, like organizing a successful dinner. This might include explaining away or downplaying a compliment. • Behavioral Thinking – I am either a successful spouse or a total failure. • Take events out of context – After an enjoyable day with your spouse, focus on one or two difficult points.
